3-K: Little STEAMers

Within each lesson, little ones learn all about baby Bronx animals and their habitats through song, read-alouds, experimentation, and hands-on art activities.

Lesson 1

Resources

Lesson 1: Earth

Where do turtles in the Bronx live? What do they do to build their homes? Sing, dig, and build like a baby turtle!

Items you will need

  • Model Magic (or other clay) or kinetic sand

  • Toy turtle

  • Digging/building materials (scoops, spoons, clay tools)

Lesson 2

Lesson 2: Sky

What’s that in the sky? Discover the world of owls by creating “sticky sky” backgrounds.

Items you will need

  • Sticky collage board

  • Soft materials (feathers, pom poms, cellophane, fabric)

  • Toy owl

Splash! What’s that sound? Learn all about beavers and their watery homes.

  • Blue paper

  • Chalk

  • Cup of water
