Background: An emerging children’s museum in The Bronx is looking for qualified educators, researchers, and exhibit developers NOW. The Museum seeks to inspire children and families to learn about themselves within the diversity and richness of their surroundings, the environment, and the world beyond. The Bronx Children's Museum will promote literacy, the arts, health, science, greening, sustainability, and the Bronx!
Support the ongoing Exhibit Master Planning process using a range of established culturally-relevant methodological tools to outline, conduct, and analyze cross-modality evaluation (e.g. observations, interviews, discussion facilitation, etc.) pertaining to children and families, community members, educators, museum board, and other stakeholders. Research areas will include relevant learning theory, potential exhibit concepts & activities, programming links, community issues, educational needs, curriculum standards, accessibility, cultural & arts comparables, and other possible topics. Researcher/Evaluator will also support a field-wide overview of exhibition best practices, particularly in relation to water-based exhibitions at children’s museums.
Qualifications & Background
Minimum 5+ years as Museum Researcher/Evaluator with demonstrated capacity to use an array of research tools and metrics, including naturalistic methodologies. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with examples of completed Front-End research. Prior experience conducting evaluation with children and families a must. Researcher/Evaluator should be familiar with all phases of the museum evaluation process - Front-end, Formative, and Summative – and should have experience coordinating with and supporting exhibition development and design. Specific experience with children’s museums preferred. Bi-lingual and Bronx relationship a plus.

Support ongoing Exhibit Master Planning process. The Exhibition Developer will triangulate established goals and mission, ongoing iterative evaluation, desired educational outcomes, safety & accessibility guidelines, affective & experiential goals, and other parameters to coalesce the exhibition development phase of a collaborative, evaluation-based planning process.
Qualifications & Background
Minimum 5+ years as Museum Exhibition Developer or equivalent experience. Specific experience developing exhibit experiences and hands-on activities for children and families a must. Organized, detail-oriented, excellent communicator and project coordinator. Knowledge of design approaches, materials, and fabrication techniques preferred. Background or experience in early childhood education a plus. The Exhibition Developer should be able to work closely with researchers, educators, designers, artists, museum staff, and other stakeholders and should be able to show prior experience conceptualizing successful hands-on, interactive, inquiry experiences for children and families. Bi-lingual and Bronx relationship a plus.

Serve as guides to small groups of children from 3-8 years old on the museum’s first exhibit on its traveling bus called “River on the Go! Where is Justin the Beaver?” The bus travels to schools, community organizations, and shelters within the South Bronx. The educators would travel with museum staff to locations and help children between the ages of 3-8 years old learn about the natural wildlife located along the Bronx River. The trips take place on Fridays and weekends during the day.
The Art Educators would also lead art activities and classes at events. The museum is also developing a pool of art educators for its ongoing programs.
Qualifications & Background
Background and experience in early childhood education; Keen interest in nature; Bi-lingual and Bronx relationship a plus.
