About Us: Future Plans

[Return to About Us]

The Museum’s On The Go Bus will start its journey in Highbridge on May 21st at a community health fair followed by its official unveiling on May 22nd at the Bronx Day parade. The Museum’s first exhibit in its bus will be the artwork of the children who participated in the Dream Big Initiative 2010.

The Museum received a grant from the Bronx Council of the Arts to have 3 of the Museum’s art educators work with children and families making boats out of recycled materials on “Environmental Day” May 21st with Rocking the Boat, Hunts Point Children's Alliance, and the Bronx Overall Development Corporation.

The Museum recently received approval by the Simon Bolivar Foundation to outfit its newly donated bus with a science/environmental exhibit geared to young Pre-K to 3rd grade children and their families from the South Bronx.

The Dream Big program 2010 was so well received that the Museum is currently fundraising to continue Dream Big this summer in the South Bronx, using the performing arts and the theme health, which will culminate again in a day-long celebration at Hostos College. The Museum will collaborate with local arts groups like Pregones and Retumba, to deliver the highest quality instruction.

The Dream Big for Your Rivers program was also so successful that the Museum is currently seeking funds to hire environmental educators and art instructors to extend it throughout the year.

The Museum will continue to seek community input and engage its advisory committees, pilot programs and build community partnerships.

The Museum plans to begin the space and exhibit design process in the summer

The Museum will launch a capital campaign in the fall to raise funding for exhibit and space development as well as operational/programming funding. Please consider making a donation to Bronx Children's Museum during this exciting development phase >>
